AMSTERDAM, November 6, 2023 - The Sharing Group proudly announces its latest investment in HomeZero. This investment enables the Haarlem-based start-up to further develop their white-label marketplace model for home sustainability. HomeZero has already onboarded its first customers.
What sets HomeZero apart is that it is designed as a white-label marketplace for making homes more sustainable. New players in the energy market, such as financial institutions, collectives, insurers, manufacturers, and other parties, can more easily serve their customer base and contribute to accelerating the energy transition. HomeZero provides the platform and effectively connects supply and demand. It ranges from offering a focused shop for solar panels or heat pumps to setting up a complete marketplace model for home sustainability. The marketplace is tailored in consultation with the customer, with the principle that the end customer always remains in control. HomeZero recognizes that the challenge doesn't solely lie on the demand side but that the supply side also deserves attention. The open PICO platform, Platform Installation Capacity Optimization, plays a significant role in this. PICO helps facilitate efficient interactions between customers and businesses, such as installation companies and manufacturers.
Mike Out, CEO of HomeZero, says, "For the next phases of sustainability within existing buildings, different solutions are needed. It needs to be faster, smarter, and most importantly, collaborative. With HomeZero and our open platform PICO, we help transform the abundant sustainable interest among homeowners into real action and ensure optimal utilization of limited installation capacity."
HomeZero is a start-up with an experienced team of specialists. The three founders have known each other since earlier times and have collaborated on multiple projects. Mike Out has gained experience as the Head of Product and Innovation at Guidion and as Head of Digital at Evoyo (formerly Econic). Rens Hagen, as a project developer, has acquired significant knowledge within the installation market, and Hunter Koppen, as CTO and also a Mendix MVP, is responsible for building the platform. Meanwhile, there are already several customers in various stages of collaboration and expressing interest.
The Sharing Group sees HomeZero as a crucial component to accelerate the energy transition. Henri de Jong, CEO, states, "We see that people often want to make their homes more sustainable but simply don't know how to find the right solutions or can't afford it. Together with HomeZero, we can work on solutions that overcome these barriers." In collaboration with other entities within The Sharing Group, such as EnergyZero and Hegg Energy, concepts are being developed to align with The Sharing Group's vision of creating the People's Power Plant. The People's Power Plant is a platform where households generate, store, and share locally produced electricity with each other.
