The Sharing Group strengthens portfolio with privacy-first email provider Soverin

Newest step in TSG Online’s strategy for European, privacy-proof digital services

Amsterdam, September 3, 2025 – The Sharing Group, the company behind brands such as Mijndomein, MyWheels, EnergyZero and Hegg Energy, has acquired Soverin, the Amsterdam-based email provider that has prioritized privacy and digital sovereignty since 2014. Soverin is known for its “privacy by design” approach: no tracking, no ads, no data mining, and fully self-owned servers hosted in the Netherlands. Since 2022, the service has been integrated into Mijndomein’s email offering and now manages more than one million mailboxes across Europe.

At a time when geopolitical factors, European regulation and market pressures converge, TSG Online, the digital division of The Sharing Group, strengthens its position as a provider of essential, privacy-proof internet services with this acquisition. Soverin follows earlier strategic investments in green cloud provider Leafcloud, sustainable hosting company Greenhost and public WiFi access service Publicroam. This series of investments underscores TSG Online’s clear direction: building a suite of sovereign, sustainable and user-friendly digital services for consumers, businesses and governments across Europe.

Privacy and sovereignty as core values

Soverin was founded in the wake of the Snowden revelations, with the mission to give users full control over their own data again. By using open standards and full transparency, Soverin offers a European alternative to Big Tech, ensuring customers are not dependent on closed ecosystems. The company is fully ISO 27001, 14001 and 9001 certified and NIS 2 compliant.

“Privacy and digital sovereignty are not marketing terms for us, but fundamental values for a safe and free internet,” says Diana Krieger, CEO and co-founder of Soverin. “With the support and scale of The Sharing Group, we can innovate faster, further strengthen our infrastructure and increase our impact in Europe, without compromising our principles.”

Strategic growth of TSG Online

The acquisition of Soverin fits into TSG Online’s broader strategy of offering essential internet services that are both technically and socially future-proof. While Leafcloud drastically reduces the CO2 footprint of digital infrastructure, Greenhost provides sustainable web hosting, and Publicroam enables secure public WiFi access. With Soverin, the suite expands with a crucial foundational service: privacy-first email. As the backbone of digital communication, privacy-first email is an indispensable element for consumers, businesses and governments that choose secure and sovereign internet services.

“We believe essential digital services must be accessible, secure and reliable,” says Herman Veenstra, CEO of TSG Online. “Soverin is a logical and important link in that vision. Together, we are building a strong European alternative to Big Tech, one that is driven by trust, transparency and societal value.”

For existing Soverin customers, nothing will change: the name, team and services remain unchanged. However, they will benefit from the advantages of the sister companies within The Sharing Group.
