Rotterdam, 8 October 2025 – Greenchoice has acquired a strategic stake in EnergyZero, a platform for dynamic energy contracts. This move strengthens both companies’ positions in the rapidly evolving energy market, where flexibility is becoming increasingly important*. The investment also reinforces the existing collaboration between Greenchoice and EnergyZero.
Greenchoice and EnergyZero aim to offer customers products and services that help them take meaningful steps in the energy transition. With a dynamic energy contract, customers can take control by aligning their energy consumption with hourly tariffs based on the wholesale market prices for the following day.
With a dynamic contract, customers are encouraged to use electricity particularly at times when the wind is blowing or the sun is shining, helping to balance supply and demand. Coen de Ruiter, CEO of Greenchoice: "For customers who want to move with the market, can handle fluctuating prices, and are able to shift their consumption to cheaper moments during the day, a dynamic contract is a great product. Moreover, by using energy smartly, you contribute directly to the energy transition."
Through this investment, Greenchoice is deepening its existing collaboration with EnergyZero. Greenchoice already supplies electricity and gas to EnergyZero and manages the purchasing and balancing of supply and demand on the energy markets on its behalf. These close ties are a key reason for Greenchoice to acquire a strategic minority stake and intensify the partnership. Current shareholder The Sharing Group will remain the majority shareholder.
Hans Valk, CEO of EnergyZero: "Dynamic energy will become the standard. Together with Greenchoice, we are developing new products and services that make flexibility simple and attractive for a growing number of households and businesses."
The transaction is subject to approval of the concentration notification by the ACM (the Dutch Authority for Consumers and Markets).
