The Sharing Group expands portfolio with Green Grid Solutions to realize ambitious energy projects

Amsterdam, January 26, 2026 – The Sharing Group, the group behind sharing companies such as Mijndomein, MyWheels, EnergyZero, and Hegg Energy, is acquiring a minority stake in Green Grid Solutions. With this participation, Green Grid Solutions will complement the group with smart solutions for large consumers on an overloaded electricity grid.

Green Grid Solutions helps organizations with practical solutions to use grid capacity more intelligently, including through innovative transport contracts and energy management. By better aligning generation, consumption and flexibility, projects can move ahead in more places and bottlenecks on the grid can be addressed in a targeted manner.

For The Sharing Group, this step is part of a broader movement. While its subsidiaries focus primarily on energy sharing by consumers, Green Grid Solutions will work on business projects that bring scale and contribute to structural solutions for grid congestion. The collaboration is therefore in line with The Sharing Group's ambition to accelerate the energy transition with concrete projects.

Cable Pooling 2.0

A concrete example of Green Grid Solutions' approach is Cable Pooling 2.0: multiple users and generators share a single grid connection and coordinate their profiles with each other. By organizing this in a smart way, supplemented with storage and control, existing capacity is used more efficiently and grid space is created for industry and more sustainable energy projects, without having to wait for a larger connection.

“Grid congestion cannot be solved with even more plans, but by actually implementing smart solutions,” says Henri de Jong, founder and CEO of The Sharing Group. “Green Grid Solutions shows by focusing on implementation, collaboration with network operators and smart transport contracts, how you can still realize sustainable projects and unlock network capacity for homes and businesses. That fits perfectly with how we as a group want to make an impact.”

Moving from words to action

An important part of the collaboration is the focus on implementation. Instead of getting stuck in plans and pilots, The Sharing Group and Green Grid Solutions want to focus on projects that are already contributing to a more robust energy system.

“Anyone can talk about the possible solutions to grid congestion and how we can advance the energy transition, but the difference lies in taking action,” says Thijs Afman, founder of Green Grid Solutions. “With The Sharing Group as a strategic partner, we can help more parties by scaling up faster and creating innovative combinations with the companies within the group.”
