MyWheels expands in The Hague with 15 new electric shared cars

The Hague, April 30 – MyWheels has expanded its fleet of electric shared cars in The Hague by adding 15 vehicles. This brings the total number of shared cars operated by the provider in the city to 220. Earlier in March, the fleet was already expanded with 18 electric shared cars.

The expansion responds to the growing demand for flexible and sustainable mobility in the city. By adding additional vehicles, it becomes easier for both residents and businesses to remain mobile without owning a car. The vehicles are suitable for a wide range of trips and can easily be reserved via an app.

Intensive use and impact on the city

Shared cars in The Hague are used intensively. Collectively, MyWheels vehicles drive nearly 300,000 kilometers each month — equivalent to circling the Earth more than 7.5 times. Shared cars also contribute to more efficient use of public space. According to various studies, one shared car can replace at least seven privately owned cars, freeing up space in the city for greenery, housing, or social facilities.

According to Joppe de Hoog, City Manager The Hague and Rotterdam at MyWheels, the expansion contributes to improved mobility in the city: “As the costs of car ownership continue to rise, we see more people choosing shared mobility. With this expansion, we ensure that more residents and visitors have access to a shared car whenever they need one.”

About MyWheels

MyWheels is a car-sharing platform with over 250,000 members and offers the largest and most diverse fleet of electric shared cars in the Netherlands. Together with more than 800 volunteer “key figures” (local ambassadors), we make it possible for everyone to enjoy cars in an environmentally friendly and cost-efficient way, without owning one. This helps create more space on the streets, more room for greenery, and contributes significantly to the environment. MyWheels is also taking the next step in the energy transition together with partner We Drive Solar. In Utrecht, residents are the first in the Netherlands to experience at scale the positive impact of a ‘mobile neighborhood battery’.
