MyWheels expands in Rotterdam with 14 new electric Renault 4s

Rotterdam, 29 October 2026 – Car-sharing provider MyWheels is expanding its electric fleet in Rotterdam with 14 new Renault 4s. The new vehicles will replace shared cars whose lease agreements are coming to an end and are part of a nationwide expansion involving 450 electric shared cars. More than 80% of the MyWheels fleet is now fully electric, making it the largest electric car-sharing fleet in the Netherlands.

The fully electric Renault 4 has a driving range of 310 kilometres, making it suitable for both short trips around the city and longer journeys beyond Rotterdam. With 420 litres of boot space, there is plenty of room for groceries, a pushchair or luggage for a weekend away. The first six Renault 4s have already been deployed at various locations across Rotterdam, including Blijdorp, the city centre, Kralingen and Crooswijk. They are available to book immediately through the MyWheels app. The remaining eight vehicles will be introduced at a later date.

A car nearby whenever you need one

With this expansion, MyWheels aims to give more Rotterdam residents access to a shared car close to home for occasions when cycling or public transport is not a practical option. This makes car sharing an alternative to owning a vehicle that sits unused for much of the time.

“In Rotterdam, many people don't need a car every day, but there are times when having one is really convenient,” says Joppe de Hoog, Regional Manager for Rotterdam at MyWheels. “When those moments arise, you simply want to be able to get on the road without having to own a car yourself. With 14 new Renault 4s, we're making that possible for more Rotterdam residents.”

Electric shared cars

The expansion in Rotterdam is part of a nationwide addition of 450 electric shared cars. Alongside the 14 new Renault 4s in Rotterdam, MyWheels is also introducing new electric shared cars in cities including Amsterdam, Utrecht, Eindhoven and The Hague.

Following the expansion, more than 80% of the MyWheels fleet is now fully electric. With over 3,000 shared cars across the Netherlands, MyWheels offers a suitable vehicle for almost every occasion, from a premium Tesla and a spacious Hyundai Kona or Kia e-Niro to a compact Renault 5. For transporting larger items, users can also choose a MyWheels vehicle such as the electric Kia PV5 van. By expanding its fleet in locations where demand is high, MyWheels aims to give more people access to electric mobility while making the most efficient use of its available vehicles.
