MyWheels introduces 30 electric shared vans in seven Dutch cities

Amsterdam, 3 September 2026 – Car-sharing provider MyWheels is expanding its fleet with 30 fully electric Kia PV5 Cargo shared vans. Starting today, the vans will be deployed in Amsterdam, Utrecht, The Hague, Rotterdam, Eindhoven, Nijmegen and Haarlem. With this launch, MyWheels is adding a new category to its nationwide offering: an electric van that users can book through the MyWheels app whenever a regular car does not offer enough space.

The nationwide launch follows a successful trial with two electric Renault Kangoo shared vans in Rotterdam earlier this year. According to MyWheels, the pilot demonstrated that, alongside the existing demand for shared cars, there is also a need for vehicles for occasional trips that require additional cargo space.

The shared vans therefore also appeal to a new group of users. They are not only intended for people who do not own a car. For households that do own a car but occasionally need more cargo space, the shared van offers an alternative to renting or owning a second or larger vehicle.

“Most people don’t need a large car or van every day, but sometimes extra space is exactly what you need. For example, when you’re moving house, picking up furniture or taking bulky items to a recycling centre,” says Claire Sipkema, COO at MyWheels. “With these electric shared vans, we’re adding a completely different use case to MyWheels. Even if you already have a car parked outside your home, a MyWheels van can simply be the most convenient option at that moment.”

MyWheels has chosen the electric Kia PV5 Cargo. The model offers up to 4.4 cubic metres of cargo space and can accommodate two Euro pallets. Thanks to its flat load floor and low loading threshold, the cargo area is easily accessible. The PV5 Cargo has a range of up to 416 kilometres and, because it is fully electric, can enter cities’ low- and zero-emission zones. The vans can be found and booked through the MyWheels app, just like MyWheels’ regular shared cars.

The 30 new shared vans will be distributed across seven cities: Amsterdam (6), Utrecht (6), The Hague (4), Rotterdam (4), Eindhoven (4), Nijmegen (3) and Haarlem (3).

The nationwide launch of the Kia PV5 Cargo shared vans was made possible in partnership with Wassink Autogroep and leasing company Ayvens. Together with MyWheels, the two partners contributed to the delivery and deployment of the new electric vehicles.
